Articulation is the process that binds the curriculum between community universities and universities, so that students can move from a community school to a university without experiencing a delay or doubling of course work. The articulation courses at Irvine Valley College are those that are considered by a university to be equivalent or comparable to courses taught on a university campus. Obtaining an articulation course for a subject or general training allows students to meet an admission and/or diploma requirement, while they are prior to the transition to Irvine Valley College. Irvine Valley College has articulation agreements with the University of California (UC), California State University (CSU) and many private and non-state accredited colleges. ASSIST is not involved in the decision on transferable courses to the UC or CSU. Assist writes only articulation chords. The Joint Manager (AO) is the person responsible for facilitating articulation agreements between Irvine Valley College and other colleges and universities.
The AO works with teachers to identify courses that are structured to meet the general requirements of California State University (CSU) and the University of California (UC), as well as campus-specific course course joints, which are important for important preparation needs. In addition, the AO facilitates agreements with other community universities, private and non-state colleges and universities. The AO is a supporter of the transfer student and is trying to facilitate the transfer process through a recent consultation on the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC), CSU General Education Breadth and Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT). The UCI articulation agreements on the ASSIST include news and updates from the majors and admission requirements for the fall of 2020. Not all university campuses offer a articulation with each university or for all their majors or departments. Many university campuses focus on their major feeder colleges and their most popular transfer majors. This does not mean that students cannot pass on. This means that these students must speak directly with an admissions counsellor and/or a specialist counsellor at the university concerned.
There is an important difference between these two terms, transposable and articulated, but they are often used as if they were interchangeable. The following information is based on the transferable articulation for the transition from a community school to a UC or CSU campus.
